Classical financial literacy is weak in most societies. In addition, the digital revolution in the banking sector leaves many to wonder: are bank employees sufficiently educated to master the challenges they face in their workplaces? How can financial and data literacy be increased among both clients and service providers?

Mag. Wolfgang WAINIG

Partner, Freibanker GmbH, Vienna

 Wolfgang Wainig was Managing Director of the Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) Risk Management from 2008 to 2015. In this position, he was responsible for the credit risks towards banks, states and institutional counterparts. He has lived through the financial crisis literally in the first rows of the RBI. Before RBI, he worked at the Investkredit Bank AG, building up their risk management department in the 2000s. In addition, he worked as an advisor and trainer for treasury, risk management and banking taxation with the Finance Trainer. His early career started out at the Austrian Stock Market, where he was leading marketing and product development, before switching to Ernst & Young. His last project was co-founding the Freibanker – an advisory firm, which aims at bringing back value and meaning to banks, clients and staff.

Mag. Philip LIST

 In October 2015 Philip List (49) was appointed director of the Erste Financial Life Park. FliPs main objective is to promote the responsible handling of money, as well as knowledge about financial & economical coherencies. FliP will become the Financial Education Brand in the region Erste Group is active in. An expansion of Flip is currently planned for the Czech Republic and Romania. Philip has gained a lot of experience in the past few years in diverse management positions within Erste Group. From 2009 to October 2015 he was Head of Group Marketing.
