Innovation as the key to post-crisis Management

Europe is facing an unprecedented challenge as we move out of the recession soaring budget deficits, a fragile banking sector, an aging population and the prospects for slow GDP growth in the years to come.

Cost reduction, thrift and frugality will be unavoidable. However, this will not be sufficient. We cannot save our way to a better future. Change and deep transformation will be required - not just slashing and reducing what we have in place but by being smarter - in the way we work, manage public institutions, provide social services, educate our children, adopt continuous learning and foster entrepreneurship. New ways and smarter ways will need innovation at all levels of society.

How can we make the transition into a creative an innovative society that can deliver the value that is needed to provide an environment for the productive and fulfilled life of its citizens? What role can business management play to get us there? How much should we extend management tools and methods beyond pure business management?
