The Under-Secretary-General DPKO will focus his comments around some of the measure relevant to a strengthened and improved cooperation between the EU and the UN in the field of peackeeping/crisis management that have been proposed during the comprehensive peacekeeping review the United Nations is current undertaking called 'A New Partnership Agenda: Charting a New Horizon for United Nations Peacekeping'. The aim of the review is to seek a renewed consensus on when and how UN peacekeeping should be applied and translate it into more effective action on the ground. The UN is seeking a dialogue with Member States, regional organizations, such as the EU, and other partners both within and outside the UN system to achieve this goal.
