EuroXbition „The young generation is better“
Following the scheme of events, Initiative Group Alpbach Kosovo organized the EuroXbition on May 10, 2014 in the facilities of the ICBM College in Mitrovica, Kosovo. The purpose of this exhibition was to break boundaries of prejudice and myths through artwork, and portraying different aspects of Kosovo and Serbia both of which are aspiring to become members of the European Union. Ten young Serbian and Kosovar photographers have asked themselves „Where is Europe in Kosovo and Serbia?“ and taken very personal snapshots of the realities surrounding them and an entire generation“ am 10. Mai 2014 in Mitrovica.
The event was opened with the welcoming remarks from Mr. Shkumbin Asllani, President of Initiative Group Alpbach Kosovo and Ms. Sanja Milosavljevic, President of Club Alpbach Belgrade
The presentation was followed by H.E. Monika Zach, Deputy Head of Mission, Austrian Embassy in Prishtina, who continued with opening remarks and the importance of the exhibition being held in Mitrovica and the date after the Europe day.
In continuance, our special guest Dr. Erhard Busek, Former President of the European Forum Alpbach and former Coordinator of the Stability Pact for Southeast Europe, gave a speech/statement regarding the idea of EuroXbition and cooperation between young people from Kosovo and Serbia. In this case the photographers, which is with high importance since it provides a basis of understanding and getting to know one another.
Mr. Taulant Hodaj, Former President of Initiative Group Alpbach Kosovo gave a brief explanation on the idea generation and implementation of the “EuroXbition”, the cultural boundaries which this exhibition breaks, due to the cooperation between photographers of both communities.
Last but not least, a perspective on the cooperation was given by the photographers Mr. Halil Halili and Ms. Milana Gusevcki, they portrayed the common goal of both communities aspiring to be part the European Union.
In the end, guests were invited to discuss about the exhibition through an informal cocktail.
