Afternoon 03: Walking a Mile
‘Before you judge someone, walk a mile in their shoes.’
Being empathetic is very important for an actor; when they take on a character however disturbing or hateful, they must understand them and see the world from their eyes. Creating strategies for putting on different shoes is another crucial aspect of an actor’s training.
Students at the end of their second year at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London will run three seminars. Each one will focus on aspects of the acting training they have received; each seminar will be different as the focus will be decided by the seminar leaders according to their preferences and strengths.
