Chancengleichheit ist das Grundprinzip der liberalen Denkrichtung der Wirtschaft. Ungleichheit kann nur in Verbindung mit sozialer Durchlässigkeit gerechtfertigt werden. Aus liberaler Warte ist in der Diskussion über Ungleichheit die Frage nach sozialer Mobilität zentral. Das Seminar möchte grundlegende Kenntnisse der Stärken und Schwächen empirischer Studien über soziale Mobilität vermitteln. Zugleich soll ein Rahmen geboten werden, in dem diverse strategische Ansätze zur Steigerung sozialer Durchlässigkeit diskutiert werden.
