With governments pressured to deliver services in more modern and cost-efficient ways, GovTech becomes a beacon of better public-private collaboration. Basing policy decisions on data and automating complex processes brings a promise of more innovation, transparency, and removal of bias. Yet, at the same time, recent examples from healthcare and law enforcement sectors, prove that lack of human in the loop may have devastating consequences. In this discussion we will consider what benefits further automation can bring to the world of politics, what are some of the red lines and how a more ‘agile’ approach to government can benefit democracy.
