The Forum during the Year

The European Forum Alpbach organises a number of events in addition to its main summer conference. These panel discussions and conferences last between one evening and three days. Austrian and international representatives of politics, business, culture and academia engage in a lively dialogue with the audience at these events, just as in Alpbach.

In addition, the Clubs and Initiative Groups of the EFA Associates Network organise several conferences and meetings all over Europe. They all have one thing in common: to keep Alpbach’s debating culture alive beyond the summer.

Alpbach Talks

We created the event series ‘Alpbach Talks’ in cooperation with the Austrian daily Wiener Zeitung. With our factual and high-quality debates, we want to add some value to topical challenges and debates. The topics and speakers of these evening events are just as diverse as Alpbach itself. The Alpbach Talks reference the themes and topics discussed at the Forum in Alpbach.

Culture and the Economy

The events “Culture and the Economy” are organised by the European Forum Alpbach in cooperation with the Peter Kaiser (1793-1864) memorial foundation. Their aim is to tackle the exciting tensions between cultural and economic actors, and to show that the economy is more than a financial sponsor and shapes our culture actively.

Forum Alpbach | Re:think

Re:think is a political innovation lab directed at selected leaders from politics, civil society and the economy. Re:Think’s aim is to provide a valuable contribution to the discourse of political reform in Austria. Instead of debating individual topics of reform on a content and goal-oriented level, Re:Think will concentrate on structural issues of the political system and address them in a way that goes beyond the usual pattern, which all too often focuses on party politics and short-term goals. The first Re:Think innovation lab will take place in Linz from June 13 to 15, 2013, and will place questions such as political responsibility, accountability and controlling at the centre of discussion.

The event is organised in cooperation with Kovar & Partners and freims: contemporary consulting for transformation, innovation and impact. Participants are selected and personally invited by the European Forum Alpbach.
