From September 6 to 13, 2020 the fifth Turkey Europe Future Forum will take place in Warsaw and Berlin. Stiftung Mercator is inviting 30 Young Leaders from Turkey, Germany and other European countries to participate in this cross-sectoral program and share their ideas on current developments in Europe and Turkey.

The topic of the fifth Forum is “Between strong states and open societies – where does our future lie?” and it tackles questions like “How can we ensure the cohesion of our societies without compromising their openness? How can democracies defend themselves against authoritarian tendencies? What role does civil society play in this, and how can it exploit digitalization to its advantage? What is the future of multilateralism given the diverse global challenges?”. In workshops, lectures and intercultural training sessions, the participants will discuss the relationship of both neighbours and share their sector- and country-specific perspectives. In addition, high-ranking speakers, guests and hosts will be offering unique insights into the politics, economic affairs, culture and society of the participating countries.

Applications Deadline: February 10th, 2020.

The Postdoc Academy for Transformational Leadership is a unique program that develops the next generation of leaders in sustainability research affiliated with a European research institution. With this year’s focus topic “Land use practices in a globalised world“, the program provides an intensive training with four seminars in two years that broaden the research competencies of early-career researchers and promote their qualification towards transdisciplinary leadership. The program also offers seed funding to groups of participants planning to initiate research collaborations. Furthermore, an active network of current and former participants of the program will be established.

The program is an initiative of the Robert Bosch Stiftung and a joint project of the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the four academic centres Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Stockholm Resilience Centre and The Dutch Research Institute for Transitions (DRIFT), Rotterdam.

Applications Deadline: February 16th, 2020.
