The health of individuals says a lot about the health of the society they live in. Healthcare systems need to take the diversity of the population into account in order to be resilient. But are our health services - as they stand today - ready to tackle the challenges of the future? Changes in Europe’s demographics and their implications for care and treatment are forcing us to rethink the prevailing healthcare system. To be mindful of the diversity of patients means to devise a new way of interacting with individuals in healthcare altogether. The programme of the Health Symposium will examine the macro- as well as the micro-levels and address issues such as the following: What structural framework do healthcare professionals need and how do healthcare curricula need to change? How resilient are we if we make our happiness conditional on our health, beauty, productivity and success? Should we not make peace with our shortcomings?
