Boundaries and Borders in Media Growth

We need a European public, but it has not yet come into existence. Will there ever be one? Or will the media remain entirely national, regional, local? More introspection than outlook? Or, borrowing freely from Habermas: Can European democracy prosper without a European public?

Many opinion leaders from EU countries are working in a vacuum. In Alpbach they will come together to exchange ideas on Europe and the media, including their concerns

from the use of the media as an instrument to today s cost-cutting pressures

as well as the great opportunities the media will offer in the future.

A forum for European media figures as well as their partners from all over the world.
