Tyrol Day

International Year of Mountains

The UN has declared 2002 the International Year of Mountains. This year s Tyrol Day will focus on this topic and bring together scientists and academics, politicians, artists and representatives of business and society to discuss the opportunities and risks of the Alps as a habitat. As the land of Mountains, the Tyrol is especially confronted with issues such as: How can we respect our mountains as a valuable resource in the 21st century? What dangers and opportunities are presented by the Alps as a natural region and habitat? How can we sustain the mountains as a place to live?
