60 Years Scientific discussions in Alpbach – retrospective and prospective views

-
Erwin-Schrödinger-Saal
Plenary / Panel
German and English language

The European Forum in Alpbach has always been an event where scientists and academics exchange ideas freely across the boundaries of individual disciplines. In the 60 years since its inception, the forum has changed our view of the world and influenced our lives time and again. What has become of the burning questions from those times, and where do we stand today? How has our knowledge, which ranges from the sub-atomic to the cosmic, come to change? How do we see Darwin’s theory of evolution today? What demands does modern society make of science and academia now, and what mechanisms drive developments in these fields? These and many other issues will be addressed and discussed in this year’s talks.
