05: Resilience and development policy

english language

This Seminar examines how resilience relates to development policy. The concept of resilience offers answers to failures of actually delivering development in many contexts around the world; it shifts the focus towards impact and requires engagement with the concrete realities on the ground.
Special emphasis will be given to fragile and conflict-affected States. New trends in international crisis and conflict management will be detected, and the rise and fall of human security discussed.
Against the backdrop of momentous changes in geostrategic relations and global governance, the seminar will reflect i.a. on the SDGs, the Paris Agreement, the need for infrastructure and the special challenges and opportunities of the African continent
