Afternoon 08: Finding Home and Being Moved in a Complex World
Self-judgement, overthinking and mental blocks can often impede free flow, improvisation, spontaneity and trust in one’s intuition. This seminar will offer practices to surrender to the wisdom of one’s body and to find one’s full creative potential. To reach this state of self-empowerment, flow and mindfulness, the participants will engage with what the seminar chairs call the four levels of connection (self, other, all, unknown) and use keys of free expression: voice, breathing, movement and folk dance.
Feeling at home does not necessarily mean being connected to a particular place. Finding home in those four levels of connection will be the overall goal. The seminar will explore the principles of becoming, belonging and being as they emerge in the multiple levels of relating to the collective spheres we move in: from family to town to region to nation to continent to the planet and beyond.
In different exercises, participants will practice a variety of existing and spontaneous folk dances and will take folk music, traditional rituals and the power of mindful celebration as building blocks to reach states of being moved. Tools and practices from meditative and folk backgrounds will be introduces to help participants find rest in their everyday lives, to feel self-empowerment and to access joy and happiness. These tools will help to see the simplicity inside the complex world we are all living in.
