12: Why Are Countries Different?

-
Hauptschule
Seminar / Seminar
english language

Why are some countries poor, while others are wealthy? Why do some countries or regions develop, while others seem to be trapped in poverty? These have been revolving questions in economics and political science over the last centuries. The aim of such questions is to reach a better understanding of inequality between countries. Suitable and thorough answers are the prerequisite for any applied development policy. This seminar illustrates why and how new data and methods have allowed important new insights in recent years.
