The European Union has more female leaders than ever before. The European Commission consists of as many female Commissioners as male ones and is led by Ursula von der Leyen. In the European Council, women are still the clear minority, but those who are in the room significantly shape EU policy. What has been the effect of these developments? What is necessary to strengthen female participation even further and allow for women to break the glass ceiling? What can future female leaders learn from those currently in power?
