Gudrun Biffl

Gudrun Biffl obtained the Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Newcastle/Tyne, UK, in 1975. She was Senior researcher in the Austrian Institute of Economic Research in Vienna, Austria (1975-2009). She was head of the department migration and globalisation (2008 – 2017) and of the department Knowledge and Communication Management (2010-2015); she was Dean of the Faculty Business and Globalisation (2010-2015). Since 2017 she is professor emeritus at the Danube University Krems. Biffl is consultant to the OECD on migration since 1977 (SOPEMI correspondent), a member of the expert council on integration to the Austrian Ministry of Integration and Gender, and of the Migration Commission in the Austrian Ministry of Interior (2017-2019); she is on the board of the Federal Austrian Statistical Office since 2009. Biffl is a labour economist with a focus on labour markets, education and migration, institutional change, industrial relations and gender. She holds the Golden Award of Merit for Special Services to the Republic of Austria.
