Hertz founded Umbilical Design in 2001, working with NASA and ESA on space design and space technology transfer. 2022 Hertz founded ISAAC with Swedish Astronaut Christer Fuglesang, to accelerate how design, technology and material from the space industry can be transferred to sustainable solutions.
