Martina Merz is a Social Studies of Science Professor at the University of Klagenfurt. Since October 2020, she is also the University’s Vice-Rector for Research. Having earned her doctorate in Physics, the scholar subsequently turned to Sociology and, in particular, Science and Technology Studies. She gained extensive research and research management experience, with time spent at universities in Germany, Switzerland, Finland, and the UK. Martina Merz maintains a broad range of international relations and has held numerous high-ranking positions in scientific journals, evaluations, third-party projects, and funding agencies. Her research focuses on the dynamics of contemporary knowledge cultures, the organization and governance of science, and the impact of representational practices (models, simulations, images, etc.) on scientific research.
