Energy policy has long been about more than just climate policy; the energy transition and strategic security are increasingly inextricably linked. The energy issue has a decisive impact on Europe’s security, competitiveness, and strategic capacity to act. The discussion explores the industrial and energy policy choices Europe must make today in order to act resiliently tomorrow. How can new dependencies on critical raw materials or key technologies be prevented, and which partnerships matter in a shifting geopolitical order? And, above all, what vision of Europe are we creating to ensure that the transformation is built to last?
We will discuss these questions together with:
- Johanna Roniger, Research Analyst at the KONTEXT Institute for Climate Matters
- Tobias Lang, Director of the Austrian Centre for Peace
- Antonella Mei-Pochtler, CEO of iSi Group; Board Member, EFA
- Members of the European Parliament Lena Schilling and Lukas Mandl
The event will be moderated by Irene Giner-Reichl, EFA Climate Committee member and co-founder of the Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition.
