At the European Forum Alpbach 2025, the Ministers of Health of the Republic of Austria and the Republic of Slovenia – in the presence of the European Commission, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) – together with the Generalitat de Catalunya, the African Union’s Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), and the Republic of Rwanda resolved the Alpbach Communiqué: “Strengthening Europe’s Antibiotic Independence.”
This landmark document represents a crucial step forward in the global effort to build resilient health systems and safeguard the responsible use of vital antibiotics.

To achieve this goal, the European Forum Alpbach invited eight leading think tanks to join EFA25. Four of them are part of the Europe in the World Days module, and four are engaged in the Austria in Europe Days.
