Andrew Holland

He is Director of the Mercator Foundation Switzerland. He previously worked in the cultural sector, as a cultural practitioner and in cultural policy, at the Federal Office of Culture and most recently as Director of Pro Helvetia – the Swiss Arts Council. He lectures on cultural policy and negotiation and advises business, philanthropy and public administration on organisational and strategic development. He is a trustee of the Swiss Foundation for Photography, a board member of the umbrella organisation ‘SwissFoundations’ and the ‘Network of European Foundations’ and a member of the advisory boards of the Collegium of the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and the philanthropic centres of the University of Geneva and the University of Basel. He studied law and political science/international affairs at the University of St. Gallen and in Berkeley and wrote his doctoral thesis on arts funding in Switzerland and the USA.
