He has been Archbishop of Luxembourg since 2011. In October 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Cardinal. He was President of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union from 2018 to 2023 and, from 2023 onward, he has served as Content Coordinator at the World Synod.
