A Vienna-born journalist, he is a founding managing director of the Media Forward Fund in Berlin – a philanthropic collaboration that promotes media diversity in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Previously, he served as editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Der Standard in Vienna for six years, as well as deputy editor-in-chief of Zeit Online in Berlin. Earlier in his career, he worked as an investigative reporter for Die Zeit and as a political editor at the Süddeutsche Zeitung in Munich. As a Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University, he focused on innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship in journalism.
