He is the Permanent Representative of Austria to the UN in New York and designated Ambassador in Berlin. Previously he served as Director-General for Bilateral Affairs, EU-Common Foreign Policy and Political Director, and Ambassador to the European Union's Political and Security Committee in Brussels. He also was Director for Disarmament, Arms Control and NonProliferation in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. At the Permanent Mission of Austria to the UN in New York, he served as Deputy Permanent Representative from 2003 to 2006. He also served as Head of the General Affairs Council Unit of the EU Division of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and at the Permanent Mission of Austria to the UN in Geneva.
