He is Co-Chair of the International Advisory Board of the European Forum Alpbach. From 2020 to 2024, he was the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transdniestrian Settlement Process. Prior to this appointment, Mayr-Harting was Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia in the European External Action Service from 2015 to 2019. He served as Head of the European Union Delegation to the United Nations in New York from 2011 to 2015.
