Deeper economic integration has given the EU periphery (some) convergence in living standards and the EU core (some) relief with labour shortages. However, economic integration has not alleviated population ageing and brain drain the EU periphery. Explore whether regional inequality within the EU can be overcome - or wheter it is likely to increase with further economic integration and EU enlargement.
