The ramp-up of e-mobility is happening too slowly to meet the EU climate targets for the transport sector. To accelerate it, subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles and the expansion of charging infrastructure are frequently demanded. However, even without distributing taxpayers’ money, a decisive policy approach would have substantial instruments at hand to reduce consumer uncertainty.
