This seminar explores the evolution, causes, and consequences of income and wealth inequality in Europe. First, participants examine whether inequality in these dimensions has increased and why such inequalities matter. Next, they analyse the role of socio-economic factors, such as gender, in shaping inequality trends, and investigate the influence of family background on the intergenerational persistence of inequality. Finally, participants evaluate the potential of widely debated tax policies in shaping the distribution of income and wealth.
