Luis Durnwalder was Governor of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano–South Tyrol from 1989 to 2014. He played a key role in South Tyrol’s development, from conflict resolution to the establishment of the Euregio Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino, which he chaired as its founding president in 2011. European policy and the international protection of minorities were at the heart of his work.
