Women Network: Lead Differently - More Perspectives. Greater Impact.

30 Apr, 2026

At the event organized by EFA x PwC Women Network, one thing became clear: female leadership means forging new paths with authenticity, diversity, and courage.

Discussion Points

  • What defines successful leadership today, and what role does female leadership play in this?
  • How do diverse leadership approaches influence collaboration, innovation, and sustainable business success?
  • And how can leadership succeed in diverse contexts that span different genders, generations, perspectives, and professional realities?

The Speakers

The PwC Women Network, together with the European Forum Alpbach, addressed these key questions on 27 April under the motto “Lead Differently”, during an inspiring evening focused on modern leadership and female leadership.

The core of the event was a high-profile panel discussion featuring Karin Gonnermann (PwC Austria), Prim.a Dr. Judith Noske (Lower Austria State Health Agency), Prof. Mag.a Dr.in Sabine Bergner (University of Graz), Valerie Hengl (Wien Energie; Forum Alpbach Network), and Mariella Schultes (ÖBB).

Authentic, Diverse Leadership as a Driver of Innovation

The panelists emphasized that successful leadership today is based on authenticity, diversity, and the courage to break new ground. In this area in particular, women in leadership positions provide crucial impetus by bringing different perspectives to the forefront and actively incorporating them into decision-making processes. Furthermore, diverse leadership approaches foster innovation and sustainable business success, as leadership is increasingly understood as a collaborative process based on trust and openness.

Enabling Growth Through Diversity

The answer to the last question was particularly creative. By comparing leadership to a raised garden bed, a vivid image emerged: leadership, in this context, means deliberately creating the right conditions so that different personalities can grow together and reach their full potential. Only when we acknowledge our differences can we work together to build on our commonalities.
