Healthcare is where the state becomes tangible: in access to care, waiting times, and whether people feel heard. When a system works for others but not for them, trust in democracy suffers. Yet structural constraints can limit governments’ ability to deliver. Taking healthcare as a starting point, this session explores how participation, state capacity, and democratic trust intersect.
